Stories are the fuel that keeps us aware of and working on anti-racism. We know the stories of people like George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. We seek the stories of people in our communities and many of us have our own stories to tell.
So how can we use stories effectively not just to share our experiences but to start chipping away at the edges of systemic racism, or better yet, to smash the foundations?
The first step is to realize that there are two sides to every story experience; storytelling and story listening. In this webinar, we are going to start by examining those roles and explore what it takes both to tell your story and to listen to someone’s story.
We will touch on themes of empowerment, healing, liberation, empathy, ignorance, and space. You will learn what it takes to be an authentic listener. You will learn about the importance of crafting stories to make them more effective.
