Africa – The Multicultural Continent with a Global Reach
The richness of the African continent’s cultural diversity cannot be underestimated. The continent’s abundance of unique and complex ethnic populations defies the current cultural models. Would you like to know how? And are you also curious to know what interesting African cultural practices have spread beyond the continent and been embraced globally? Or maybe you have other questions about Africa you’d like to ask.
Then join Dr. Sandy Barasa for an insider’s view! Sandy comes from Kenya and is a senior inter-cultural lecturer at the Radboud University Nijmegen’s Centre for Language studies. She is the chair of SIETAR Europa’s Special Interest Group on Africa.
Sandy speaks as an African, an academic and as an ex-pat living in the Netherlands for over 10 years.
In this session Sandy will discuss:

Africa’s complex multicultural context with a focus on African sub-Sahara.
The global link i.e. how some cultural practices have spread and been embraced globally.
